Dear Mama: A Letter to my Mother
First I want to say thank you, for everything. The selflessness you've shown towards myself, Keith, Nadia, and nanny has never gone unnoticed. I wouldn't be half of the woman I am or where I am had it not been for you. Throughout my 29 years of living you've taught me A LOT such as:
Hard Work- There is nothing I can't accomplish with hard work.
Perseverance- That no matter what adversities life may throw at me to keep going. You've gone through hard times and never did you fold and you never made us feel like we were going through hard times. You taught me through your actions that the only way out is through.
Education- You emphasized at an early age that knowledge is power. To always be a student, in school and in life. There is always something to be learned.
Kindness- You taught me to always be kind to others for I never know what battle they may be fighting.
Independence- To always be able to hold my own yet don't be afraid to ask for help. Although I tend to struggle with the asking for help part.
Patience- To be patient, with myself and with life. That God will bless me with what he wants me to have when he feels like I'm ready for it and that it will always be on time.
I could go on and on about what I've learned from you. I want you to know that there is nothing more you could have done to have been a better mom to us growing up. I only hope to to be half the mom to my future children that you have been to us. I wouldn't have wanted to go through this thing called life with anyone else as my mom, yes, this includes Beyonce' and Michelle Obama, only you girl lol.
While we have so many memories to cherish it excites me that we still have so much more to experience together, engagement, wedding dress shopping, marriage, giving you grandkids...I think it's safe to say that The Best is Yet to Come. I love you always and to you and all of the great moms out there, Happy Mother's Day!
