Where Have You Been? The Importance of Self-Care

As of April 27, 2017 (the date of my last post) I decided it was necessary for me to take a step back from the blog for a little while. I was feeling drained, a tad bit down, and uninspired. I once listened to an interview with Jada Pinkett-Smith where she expressed that she always put herself and her needs before that of her husband and children because she has to be ok in order to pour her best self into them. She compared it to a flight attendant telling you to put your oxygen mask on first. At that moment I decided to do just that. Take a step back from my blog and social media and pour into myself, fill my cup back up.

The Kouture blog is all about positive vibes and energy, sharing my journey and lessons I've learned along the way, and encouraging others to become their best selves. Because of the type of blog I have, it's important to me that I only write when inspired, I only share what I feel gives off "good vibes only" (even if that's sharing how I get through my bad moments), and I take time to fully focus on myself when necessary. I CAN NOT POUR FROM AN EMPTY CUP. I remind myself of this daily. As a young woman, it's easy to put everyone else's needs before my own and look up after a while like, "wait, what about me?". Super woman syndrome much?

"You can't pour from an empty cup. Take care of yourself first."

I'll talk more about some of the things I've been doing to ensure my cup is running over in another blog post. As of last fall, after a social media break, I got back on Instagram (@klbossy) and as of today, the blog is back in full effect. On my break I started working out, I started a new job, on the verge of pursuing other opportunities, went on a "baecation" to Hawaii to visit my brother and sister in law (and again in March with my mom & little cousin), and now I feel like I can continue to pour some positive vibes and energy back into you guys. So, here we are, I'm excited to dream, create, and inspire. Tell me how you practice sefl-care in the comments. Until next time....
