Seeing the Good in the Bad
There comes a point in life when you have a turning point. That turning point can be in your career, in your style, in your outlook on relationships, or in life in general. For me, I think 2017 thus far has been my turning point year. I feel like this year, more than any other I have a new outlook on gratitude.
Now, I've always been grateful for people/things in my life and life itself but I don't mean that kind of gratitude. What I mean by 2017 being my year of gratitude is that I'm learning how to be grateful even in the midst of the storm. Over the past 2 years I have experienced quite a bit of disappointment (which I will share with you all once I feel the time is right) and even went through what I would call a light depression. In the midst of the storm what you will find is that you have two choices......feel sorry for yourself or look for the blessing in the lesson and keep it moving.
"Drink some coffee, put on some gangsta rap, and handle it."
What I've come to realize is that drowning in my sorrows doesn't solve anything. It's unproductive and doesn't do anything but continuously remind me of why I'm upset in the first place. I've learned to find the good in every bad situation and pay attention what I can learn from the situation and how the experience can help me grow as a person. Remember, the "bad" things that happen to us are a necessary part of personal growth. So, wipe your tears, pull yourself up by your thigh high boot straps, and remember that after every storm there's a rainbow.
