Here lately I have been paying a lot more attention to my health. Not only because "Summer 16" has finally knocked but for my overall health in general. At 27 I figured it was time for me to take matters into my own hands. Stop the yoyo dieting, become more aware of what I was feeding my body & start treating my body just as good as it has treated me all of these years. Afterall, if you think about it, when you start living an overall healthy lifestyle, i.e. diet & exercise, you don't have to panic when the warm weather comes around because instead of getting ready you stay ready (future post alert). Not only that but I plan on trying to make it to a beach somewhere come Winter.
With that being said, if you're anything like me during the week you hit the gym ASAP after work because once you're comfortable it's over for the gym. lol Because of this, I KEEP my gym bag stocked and ready to go. I pack it up in the evening before I go to bed. This way I don't have to worry about scrambling around looking for gym gear everyday. Besides my typical gym clothes & sneakers & headphones there's a few other items I like to pack in my bag.
1. Elf Make Remover Wipes- Just in case I wear makeup to work that day. I don't know about you but having problematic skin already, working out in makeup is a "no no" for me. I try to avoid it at all cost. Not only do these wipes work well but their only $4!
2. Degree Deodorant- I love this deodorant because it smells like its actual scent when you sweat as opposed to an odd smell & keeps me pretty dry. I also use Degree as my daily deodorant. I suggest having a separate stick for daily use and gym use.
3. Lotion- I don't have a specific brand that I have to have for gym use, any travel size lotion of your liking works fine. I like to carry it mainly because I prefer to workout in leggings and I don't want to be the girl in the gym with ashy ankles.
4. Scunci No Damage Hair Elastics- a.k.a pony tail holders. This is my favorite brand of ponytail holders because they don't snag my hair and they stretch far so I am even able to use them when I wear my hair in its natural state. I like to keep these in my gym bag and purse because I like my hair out of my face when I work out.
I hope my gym essentials helped someone else on their fitness journey with ideas of what to pack in your gym bag. Remember, when it comes to converting to a healthy lifestyle and seeign results, as with anything in life, "progress is a slow process, but slow progress is better than none."
