Veni, Vidi, Vici
It's that time of year again. During this time of the year I love social media for one reason, all of the graduates and positive images I get to see. In a world where negative images are thrown in your face like a boxing glove it's very refreshing to see images of people who have crossed a major hurdle in their lives.
I remember walking across the stage at the Yum Center like it was yesterday with my chest poked out in fulfillment and my eyes teary. There is no other feeling like it. I wanted to use today's post to shout out all of the graduates out there! My advice to you on your big day would be to take a deep breath, say a quick prayer of thanksgiving and really be in the moment and take it all in. You earned this day, FINALLY all of the sleepless nights, research, and hard work has paid off. Don't let anyone down play this accomplishment. If no one else tells you on your big day I'm here to tell you I am so proud of you....yes, you! Although we tend to hear horror stories of post graduation slumps, take it from me, your life has JUST begun.
Enjoy this day, pat yourself on the back, and from here on out make a promise to yourself to go out here into the world and go after all of your dreams with 110% effort and fear......yes fear. Iyanla Vanzant said on the show Super Soul Sunday that if your dreams for yourself should be so big and so scary that you should have a little bit of pee dripping down your leg (don't you just love her). Remember with hard work, determination and drive and FAITH, there is NOTHING that you can't accomplish. And when life has you down and you feel like things aren't moving fast enough remember this, "It takes 6 months to build a Rolls-Royce and 13 hours to build a Toyota."
You did your time, now go out into the world and be a Rolls-Royce in a world that has more than enough Toyota's. Class of 2016.....YOU DID IT!!!
